***********************************› WELCOME TO THE ANTIC MONTHLY DISK › (c)1990 Antic Publishing›***********************************››Most of the programs on this disk are›written in Atari BASIC. Some might›require special hardware or specific›operating instructions. Please read›the matching issue of ANTIC Magazine›for complete documentation.››Subscription Customer Service:›(619) 485-7754.››Back Issue and Subscription Orders:›(800) 234-7001›(Visa, MasterCard, and American›Express only.)››XXX›› This month's disk features two AMP›(Antic Music Processor) utilities,›TRANSPOZ.BAS and SHIFTER.BAS. These›programs are designed for modifying›existing .AMP music files. If you›use either of the programs, DON'T ›save the resulting music with the›original name! This would overwrite›your original song.› You can use Transposer and Shifter›without AMP, but to play back any AMP›files you need the actual Antic Music›Processor program (Antic Disk Bonus,›June 1989).››XXX›› To complement the AMP utilities›we've included three new AMP songs:› On side "A", BOLERO.AMP by Ravel is›an epic composition that may make›your hair stand on end. (If you enjoy›this piece, do check out the movie›"ALLEGRO NON TROPPO". It's a kind of›social parody filled with great›classical music and facinating›animation.)› Also on this side is JEDI.AMP (the›theme music from you-know what),›whilst ELEANOR.AMP is on side "B".› Again, to play back the .AMP files›you need Antic's Music Processor›(Antic Disk Bonus, June 1989).› (You must run AMP.EXE and load the›.AMP file to hear the song.)››XXX›› Side "B" contains this month's›incredible Disk Bonus:›› MINIATURE GOLF›› All you need to do to play this›game is to turn your computer on with›Side "B" up in drive one. The program›uses its own BASIC XL to RUN, so›remove all cartridges before booting.›(XL/XE users hold down [OPTION].)›› Several files make up this golf›game with all its holes and a›construction set. YOU CAN'T RUN ANY›OF THE FILES ON SIDE "B" FROM ATARI›BASIC. Check the article for more›information on the various files.››XXX› If you've ever tried typing in›programs from other issues, you know›how hard it can be to get every line›entered perfectly. To get you›started, we've included the›indispensable TYPOII.LST on disk.›This is a LISTed version of our BASIC›proofreader program. You must type:›› ENTER "D1:TYPOII.LST"››to load TYPO into your computer.›Then follow the instructions in the›beginning of the listings section to›enter and check your program.››XXX›The menu that appeared on the screen›when you booted the disk will only›RUN programs with a .BAS extender.›If you try to run a program and the›response is 'cannot run Filename',›check the file extender with this›list:›XXX›››.BAS BASIC saved program, use menu› RUN or LOAD and RUN.›.LST BASIC listed program, ENTER› then RUN.›.EXE Assembly language 'Load and› Go' file. Remove BASIC, boot› DOS, type L then enter the› filename.›.ASM Assembly language source code› (Atari Assembler Editor)› Must be compiled.›.M65 "SAVEd" MAC/65 assembly › language source code.› Must be compiled.››XXX››.OBJ Machine language object file.› Same as .EXE but not 'Load and› Go'. See corresponding article.›.SYS Reserved for DOS system files.›.TXT Text file. Usually accessed› by another program.›.ACT ACTION! language source code.› Must be compiled.›.LGO A Logo program. Requires the› Logo cartridge.›.AMP AMP Music file. Requires the› Antic Music Processor (AMP).››XXX››All programs from ANTIC issues dated›prior to August 1984 were reproduced›from ANTIC's Archive. We've updated›them from our HELP columns and›most are compatible with the XL and›XE machines. We have worked to insure›that our programs operate as›published, but we consider all our›software listings to be works in›progress which we encourage you to›personalize and enhance.››Good luck, and ENJOY!›› -ANTIC ED››
