Double Up

People laughed at the farmer who tried to haul two tons of fertilizer in a one-ton truck. They won't laugh at you, though, when you store 40MB of programs and files on a 20MB hard disk drive—as long as you use DOUBLEDisk.

DOUBLEDisk ($99.95) from Vertisoft Systems is a new memory-resident utility that doubles the capacity of any existing hard disk, using software only—no new hard drives or controller card. It's not even necessary to reformat the hard disk. You specify the initial size of the extended disk and assign a letter designation. You can create up to ten extended disks for data organization.

DOUBLEDisk automatically compresses a file 50 percent whenever it's saved, but the disks are used normally, just as if they weren't compressed at all. Directories, subdirectories, saves, backups, and restores all work fine. The program includes a 30-day unconditional guarantee.
